Abstract

Harvest time of seeds from Stylosanthes guianensis CIAT-184 was studied in a randomized block design with four replications.  The treatments were; seed harvested at the beginning of the ripeness when in the 5% of the inflorescence crop out two maturity seeds (0 day) and at 7, 14, 21, 28, 35 and 42 days later. During two years studied it was appreciated that the beginning of flowering occurred at the end of October and beginning of seed ripeness at the end of November. In both years were significative differences (P<0,001) in seed production for harvest time studied. In the first year the best values were obtained between 28 an 42 days and did not differ among them (70,75; 71,29 and 67,86 kg/ha); meanwhile in the second year occurred between 21 and 35 days without significative differences (118,33; 87,89 and 89,89 kg/ha). It is recommended to harvest S. guianensis CIAT-184 seeds after 21 and 35 days at the beginning of the ripeness.
